To Members Of The Media,
The Republican resolution to terminate Indigenous Native Nations on the continental United States is nothing less than a declaration of war and statement of intent to commit genocide. This resolution portrays an image of not only racism but also complete ignorance of the relationship between the Untied States and Indigenous Native Nations. The Untied States has treaties with every sovereign country that it interacts with, so too is it with the government of the Untied States and Indigenous Native Nations. Contrary to what TV has taught, treaties are not privileges bestowed upon defeated and subjugated Indigenous Native Nations. Treaties are in fact agreements of Sovereign Nations to bestow specific privileges land and resources upon the United States in exchange for specific compensation. At no time has any treaty EVER ceded the sovereignty of any Indigenous Native Nation. Indigenous Native Nations are in fact recognized as Nations within Nations by the UN and all world countries.
The Republican resolution to terminate Indigenous Native Nations on the continental United States is absolutely no different than if the Republican party resolved terminate the sovereignty of Mexico, Canada or any other Sovereign Nation. This racist resolution will see the end of the Republican party long before it with see the extermination of Indigenous Nation. The insanity of John Fleming's statement: "We do not recognize them as sovereign nations, as governments," said John Fleming, the Skagit County delegate who was a main author of the resolution. It calls on the federal government to "immediately take whatever steps necessary to terminate all such non-republican forms of government on Indian reservations." "We think it can be done peacefully," Fleming said. But if tribes were to fight the effort, "then the U.S. Army and the Air Force and the Marines and the National Guard are going to have to battle back."
This degree of racism and ignorance of any political group is beyond comprehension. It is in effect commitment to see the Untied States devastated by war within it's own borders. In 500 years all attempt to exterminate indigenous people have failed, wholesale slaughter, forced death marches, forced sterilization, germ warfare, starvation, forced relocation have all failed. Rest assured this new effort will also fail.
Native People have struggled for over 500 years against overwhelming odds to maintain their right to self determination. Yet as this resolution shows the general population appears totally unaware of what Sovereignty means or what the true legal nature of the relationship between the Untied States and Indigenous Native Nations. This type of lack of understanding can and does lead to conflict and hostility. I ask that you as a member of the media report this issue and use it as a basis to help create a true accurate understanding of the relationship between the Untied States and Indigenous Native Nations. That understanding can lead to a spirit of cooperation that will benefit the social, economic and political status of Native Americans but of all Americans.
When will the genocide end?
Respecting tribal sovereignty is a matter of national honor! To quote the late US Supreme Court Justice Hugo Black, "Great Nations, like great men, keep their word."
Which are you? Do you represent a nation of cowards, liars and thieves? Or do you represent a Great Nation of honorable men and women? Let your actions speak for who you are. Please adamantly denounce this and any resolution, that infringes upon Tribal Sovereign.
Sincerely

Terminate tribal councils
Here is the resolution passed at the Washington state Republican Party convention June 17:
Whereas Article IV, Section 4, of the U.S. Constitution guarantees every state a republican form of government, and this guarantee to each state is a warrantee to protect the citizens of that state; and
Whereas the federal Bureau of Indian Affairs is currently aiding and abetting Indian tribes to regulate and collect taxes, injure property rights, withhold due process and grant unequal protection under the laws to some citizens, for the benefit and advantage of other citizens; and
Whereas these same Indian tribes, with the support and advice of the Bureau of Indian Affairs, organize and operate tribal governments that are not republican in form, and in fact prohibit certain citizens from voting for the representatives who enact such measures and laws and injure the citizens being denied representation;
Therefore be it resolved that the executive and legislative branches of the federal government immediately take whatever steps necessary to terminate all such non-republican forms of government on Indian reservations, and compensate those citizens who have wrongly suffered loss due to denial of their constitutionally guaranteed rights to be governed by a republican form of government.
